Chlamydosaurus kingii
Chlamydosaurus kingii, commonly known as the frilled-neck lizard, is a species native to Australia and New Guinea. It is easily recognized by its distinctive frill of skin around its neck, which can be expanded when the lizard feels threatened. This display serves to intimidate predators and rivals.
The frilled-neck lizard primarily inhabits woodlands and forests, where it spends much of its time in trees. It is an agile climber and feeds mainly on insects and small invertebrates. When startled, it can run quickly on its hind legs or drop from branches to escape danger.
