Chinese Terracotta Army
The Chinese Terracotta Army is a collection of life-sized clay sculptures that were buried with Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China, around 210-209 BCE. Discovered in 1974 near the city of Xi'an, these figures were created to protect the emperor in the afterlife. The army includes thousands of soldiers, horses, and chariots, each uniquely crafted with distinct facial features and expressions.
The site consists of several large pits, with the main pit housing the majority of the figures. The Terracotta Army is considered one of the most significant archaeological finds in history, providing valuable insights into ancient Chinese art, culture, and military practices.
