China Insurance Regulatory Commission
The China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC) was the main regulatory body overseeing the insurance industry in China. Established in 1998, its primary role was to ensure the stability and integrity of the insurance market, protect policyholders' rights, and promote the development of the insurance sector.
In 2018, the CIRC was merged into the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC) as part of a broader effort to streamline financial regulation. The CBIRC now supervises both the banking and insurance industries, aiming to enhance financial stability and consumer protection in China.
