Chilean Miners Rescue
In 2010, a group of 33 miners became trapped underground in the San José mine in Chile. They were stuck for 69 days, approximately 2,300 feet below the surface, after a cave-in blocked their exit. The incident garnered worldwide attention as rescue efforts began, involving engineers and rescue teams from various countries.
The rescue operation, named Operación San Lorenzo, utilized a specially designed drill called the T130 to reach the miners. On October 13, 2010, all 33 miners were successfully brought to the surface, one by one, in a capsule known as the Fénix 2. The event was celebrated globally, highlighting human resilience and teamwork.
