Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad
The Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad (CB&Q) was a major American railroad that operated primarily in the Midwest. Founded in 1856, it connected cities like Chicago, Denver, and Omaha, facilitating the movement of goods and passengers across several states. The railroad was known for its efficient service and innovative practices, contributing significantly to the development of the regions it served.
In 1970, the CB&Q merged with the Northern Pacific Railway and the Great Northern Railway to form the Burlington Northern Railroad. This merger expanded its reach and resources, allowing it to compete more effectively in the evolving transportation industry. Today, its legacy continues as part of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation.
