Chibok Schoolgirls
The Chibok Schoolgirls refer to a group of 276 female students who were abducted from their school in Chibok, Nigeria, on April 14, 2014, by the militant group Boko Haram. The girls were taken during a nighttime raid, sparking international outrage and a global campaign for their release, known as #BringBackOurGirls.
Following the abduction, some of the girls managed to escape, while others were held captive for years. The incident highlighted issues of security, education, and women's rights in Nigeria and drew attention to the ongoing violence perpetrated by Boko Haram in the region.
