Chhath Puja
Chhath Puja is a significant Hindu festival celebrated primarily in the Indian states of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh, as well as in parts of Nepal. It honors the Sun God, Surya, and his wife, Usha, and is observed over four days. Devotees perform rituals to express gratitude for the blessings of life and health, seeking prosperity and well-being.
The festival involves fasting, bathing in rivers, and offering prayers at sunrise and sunset. Women, especially, participate in the rituals, preparing traditional offerings like thekua and fruits. The culmination of the festival is marked by the "arghya" ceremony, where offerings are made to the setting and rising sun.
