Chest Trauma
Chest trauma refers to any injury to the chest area, which can involve the ribs, lungs, heart, and major blood vessels. Common causes include car accidents, falls, sports injuries, and physical assaults. Symptoms may include pain, difficulty breathing, and visible deformities.
There are two main types of chest trauma: blunt and penetrating. Blunt trauma occurs from a forceful impact, while penetrating trauma involves an object piercing the chest, such as a knife or bullet. Both types can lead to serious complications, including pneumothorax (collapsed lung) and hemothorax (blood in the chest cavity). Prompt medical attention is essential for effective treatment.
