Chen Jingrun
Chen Jingrun was a prominent Chinese mathematician known for his significant contributions to number theory. Born on April 22, 1933, he gained fame for his work on the Goldbach conjecture, which posits that every even integer greater than two can be expressed as the sum of two prime numbers.
In 1966, Chen made a breakthrough by proving that every sufficiently large even integer can be expressed as the sum of a prime and a semiprime (a product of two primes). His work has had a lasting impact on the field of mathematics, inspiring further research and exploration in number theory.
