Chemical Change
A chemical change occurs when substances undergo a transformation that alters their chemical composition. This process results in the formation of new substances with different properties. Common examples include rusting of iron, burning of wood, and the reaction between vinegar and baking soda.
During a chemical change, bonds between atoms are broken and new bonds are formed. This is different from a physical change, where the substance remains the same chemically. Indicators of a chemical change can include color change, gas production, or the release of heat or light.
