Chelsea Manning is a former United States Army intelligence analyst who gained international attention in 2010 when she leaked classified military and diplomatic documents to the website WikiLeaks. These documents revealed sensitive information about the U.S. military's operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as diplomatic communications.
Manning was arrested in 2010 and later convicted in 2013 of multiple charges, including espionage. She was sentenced to 35 years in prison but had her sentence commuted by President Barack Obama in 2017 after serving nearly seven years. Manning has since become an advocate for issues related to transparency and civil liberties.
