Charles IV of Luxembourg
Charles IV of Luxembourg was a Holy Roman Emperor who reigned from 1355 until his death in 1378. Born in 1316, he was a member of the House of Luxembourg and became known for his efforts to strengthen the empire and promote peace among its various territories. He was crowned King of Bohemia in 1346, which helped solidify his power in Central Europe.
Charles IV is also famous for his cultural contributions, particularly the founding of Charles University in Prague in 1348, one of the oldest universities in Europe. His reign is often seen as a golden age for the Kingdom of Bohemia, marked by economic prosperity and cultural flourishing.
