John the Blind
John the Blind was a notable figure in the 14th century, known for his role as the Count of Luxembourg. Born in 1296, he became blind at a young age, yet he proved to be a skilled leader and military commander. His blindness did not hinder his ambitions, and he successfully expanded his territories through strategic marriages and alliances.
Despite his visual impairment, John was an influential ruler who participated in various military campaigns, including the Battle of Crécy during the Hundred Years' War. He was also the father of Emperor Charles IV, further solidifying the Luxembourg dynasty's prominence in European history.
