Charles II of Orléans
Charles II of Orléans was a French nobleman born in 1392, known for his role as the Duke of Orléans. He was a member of the royal House of Valois and the son of Louis I, Duke of Orléans. Charles II became a prominent figure during the Hundred Years' War, which was a series of conflicts between England and France.
He was captured by the English at the Battle of Agincourt in 1415 and spent many years in captivity. After his release, he returned to France and became involved in politics and culture, supporting the arts and literature, which contributed to the flourishing of French Renaissance culture.
