Character Strengths and Virtues
"Character Strengths and Virtues" is a framework developed by psychologists Martin Seligman and Christopher Peterson to identify and categorize positive traits that contribute to human flourishing. It outlines 24 character strengths, such as courage, gratitude, and kindness, which are grouped into six overarching virtues: wisdom, courage, humanity, justice, temperance, and transcendence.
These strengths are considered universal across cultures and can be cultivated to enhance well-being and personal development. By recognizing and nurturing these traits, individuals can improve their relationships, increase resilience, and lead more fulfilling lives.
