Ceratotherium simum
Ceratotherium simum, commonly known as the white rhinoceros, is one of the largest species of rhinoceros. It is native to southern Africa and is characterized by its broad mouth, which is adapted for grazing on grasses. There are two subspecies: the Southern white rhinoceros and the critically endangered Northern white rhinoceros.
White rhinos can weigh up to 2,300 kilograms (5,000 pounds) and have a distinctive hump on their necks due to large muscles that support their heavy heads. They are social animals, often found in groups, and play a vital role in their ecosystem by helping to maintain grassland habitats.
