Central Rada
The Central Rada was a governing body in Ukraine formed in 1917 during the aftermath of the Russian Revolution. It aimed to represent Ukrainian interests and sought autonomy for Ukraine within a reformed Russia. The Rada played a crucial role in the establishment of Ukrainian statehood and declared the independence of Ukraine in January 1918.
The Central Rada consisted of various political groups, including socialists and nationalists, and was instrumental in promoting the Ukrainian language and culture. Its efforts faced opposition from both the Bolsheviks and the White Army, leading to a turbulent period in Ukrainian history marked by conflict and shifting alliances.
