Castor Bean
The Castor Bean comes from the plant *Ricinus communis*, which is native to Africa and the Middle East but is now grown in many tropical and subtropical regions. The seeds of this plant contain a toxic compound called ricin, which can be harmful if ingested. Despite its toxicity, castor oil, derived from the seeds, is used in various applications, including medicine and cosmetics.
The plant can grow up to 10 feet tall and features large, palmate leaves and spiky seed pods. While the seeds are often mistaken for edible beans, they should be handled with care due to their potential dangers. In some cultures, the Castor Bean is also used for ornamental purposes in gardens.
