Carving Pumpkins
Carving pumpkins is a popular activity, especially during the fall season and around Halloween. It involves selecting a pumpkin, usually a Cucurbita pepo, and using tools to cut out designs or faces. People often scoop out the insides to create a hollow shell, which can be used for pumpkin seeds or pumpkin pie.
Once the pumpkin is hollowed out, various designs can be drawn on its surface. Common themes include spooky faces, ghosts, or witches. After carving, a candle or light is often placed inside to illuminate the design, creating a festive decoration for homes and neighborhoods.
