Carrowmore
Carrowmore is a significant prehistoric burial site located in County Sligo, Ireland. It is one of the largest and oldest collections of megalithic tombs in Europe, dating back to around 4000 BC. The site features over 30 tombs, primarily passage tombs, which are characterized by their long stone passages leading to burial chambers.
The area is part of the Cairn tradition, where ancient communities constructed elaborate structures for their dead. Carrowmore is also near other archaeological sites, such as Knocknarea and Queen Maeve's Tomb, making it an important location for understanding Ireland's ancient history and burial practices.
