Carob Tree
The Carob tree (Ceratonia siliqua) is a flowering evergreen tree native to the Mediterranean region. It can grow up to 15 meters tall and produces long, flat pods that contain sweet, edible pulp and seeds. The tree is well-adapted to dry climates and is often used for soil improvement and erosion control.
Carob pods are commonly processed into a powder or syrup, serving as a natural sweetener and chocolate substitute. Rich in fiber and low in fat, carob is often found in health foods and snacks. The tree also provides shade and is valued for its ornamental qualities in landscaping.
