Carbon Storage
Carbon storage refers to the process of capturing and storing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions to prevent them from entering the atmosphere. This is crucial for mitigating climate change, as excess CO2 contributes to global warming. Carbon can be stored in various ways, including underground geological formations, in oceans, or through natural processes like reforestation.
There are several methods for carbon storage, such as Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), which involves capturing CO2 from industrial sources and injecting it deep underground. Another method is enhancing natural carbon sinks, like forests and wetlands, which absorb CO2 from the atmosphere and store it in biomass and soil.
