Captain William Bligh
Captain William Bligh was a British naval officer and navigator, best known for his role as the captain of the HMS Bounty. He gained notoriety for the infamous mutiny that occurred on the ship in 1789, when a group of crew members, led by Fletcher Christian, rebelled against his authority.
Bligh was cast adrift in a small boat with a few loyal crew members and managed to navigate over 3,600 miles to safety in Timor. Despite the mutiny, he continued his naval career and later became the governor of New South Wales in Australia.
