Cannabis Act
The Cannabis Act is a law in Canada that came into effect on October 17, 2018. It allows adults to legally possess and use recreational cannabis while establishing regulations for its production, distribution, and sale. The Act aims to protect public health and safety by controlling the cannabis market and reducing illegal activities associated with it.
Under the Cannabis Act, individuals aged 18 or older can possess up to 30 grams of dried cannabis in public. The law also permits home cultivation of up to four plants per household. Additionally, provinces and territories have the authority to set their own rules regarding the sale and consumption of cannabis.
