California Flag
The California Flag, also known as the Bear Flag, features a design that includes a grizzly bear, a red star, and a red stripe at the bottom. The bear represents strength and unyielding resistance, while the star is a nod to the California Lone Star Flag of 1836. The flag was first raised in 1846 by American settlers in revolt against Mexican rule in what is known as the Bear Flag Revolt.
Adopted as the state flag of California in 1911, the flag symbolizes California's rich history and its spirit of independence. The bear depicted on the flag is modeled after a real bear named Monarch, who was captured in 1890. The flag is a popular emblem, often seen at state events and celebrations, reflecting California's identity and pride.
