The objective is to flip the caber end over end so that it lands in a straight line from where it was thrown. Competitors must lift the caber upright and run with it before launching it into the air. A successful toss is judged based on the caber's position upon landing, with the ideal result being a perfect 12 o'clock position, where the small end points directly away from the thrower.
