Caño Cristales
Caño Cristales is a river located in the Sierra de la Macarena National Park in Colombia. Known as the "River of Five Colors," it is famous for its vibrant hues of red, yellow, green, blue, and black, which are caused by the unique aquatic plant Macarenia clavigera. This natural phenomenon occurs during the wet season, typically from June to November, when the water levels drop and the plants bloom.
The river flows through a stunning landscape of waterfalls, pools, and rocky formations, attracting nature lovers and adventure seekers. Visitors can explore the area through guided tours, which often include hiking and swimming in the crystal-clear waters. The region is also home to diverse wildlife, making it a popular destination for ecotourism.
