Buxaceae
The Buxaceae family, commonly known as the boxwood family, consists of flowering plants primarily found in tropical and subtropical regions. This family includes about 100 species, which are mostly shrubs and small trees. Members of Buxaceae are characterized by their simple, evergreen leaves and small, often inconspicuous flowers.
One of the most well-known genera in this family is Buxus, which includes the popular ornamental plant known as boxwood. These plants are frequently used in landscaping for hedges and topiaries due to their dense foliage and ability to be easily shaped. Buxaceae plants are also valued for their hard, durable wood.
