Button Gwinnett
Button Gwinnett was an American politician and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Born in 1735 in England, he moved to the American colonies and became involved in local politics in Georgia. Gwinnett served as the colony's governor and was a prominent figure in the fight for independence from British rule.
He is best known for his signature on the Declaration of Independence in 1776, which marked his commitment to the American cause. Tragically, Gwinnett's life was cut short when he died in a duel in 1777, making him one of the lesser-known Founding Fathers of the United States.
