Burmese military
The Burmese military, officially known as the Tatmadaw, is the armed forces of Myanmar. It consists of the army, navy, and air force, and is responsible for the country's defense and internal security. The military has played a significant role in Myanmar's politics, especially since the country gained independence in 1948.
Historically, the Tatmadaw has been involved in various conflicts, including civil wars with ethnic armed groups. The military has faced criticism for its human rights record and its role in the 2021 coup, which overthrew the democratically elected government led by Aung San Suu Kyi.
