Bulgarian Traditions
Bulgarian traditions are rich and diverse, reflecting the country's history and cultural influences. One of the most notable customs is the celebration of Kukeri, where people dress in elaborate costumes and masks to scare away evil spirits and ensure a good harvest. This event usually takes place in late winter and is marked by lively dances and music.
Another important tradition is the Nestinarstvo, a fire-dancing ritual performed during the summer. Participants dance barefoot on hot coals, believing it brings healing and blessings. This ancient practice is often accompanied by traditional songs and is recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
