Brundibár
Brundibár is a children's opera composed by Hans Krása in 1938. It tells the story of two children, Aninka and Pepíček, who try to raise money for their sick mother by singing in the town square. However, they are thwarted by a mean organ grinder named Brundibár.
The opera was performed by children in the Terezin concentration camp during World War II. Despite its dark history, Brundibár conveys themes of hope, resilience, and the power of community. It remains a poignant reminder of the impact of art in the face of adversity.
