British Special Operations Executive
The British Special Operations Executive (SOE) was a secret organization formed during World War II in 1940. Its primary mission was to conduct espionage, sabotage, and reconnaissance in occupied Europe, supporting resistance movements against the Axis powers. The SOE aimed to disrupt enemy operations and gather intelligence to aid the Allied war effort.
The SOE operated in various countries, including France, Norway, and Greece, training local resistance fighters and coordinating sabotage missions. Notable figures associated with the SOE include Violette Szabo and Odette Hallowes, who became famous for their bravery and contributions to the war effort. The organization was disbanded in 1946 after the war ended.
