Bosnian Genocide
The Bosnian Genocide refers to the mass killings and ethnic cleansing that occurred during the Bosnian War from 1992 to 1995. Primarily targeting the Bosniak Muslim population, it involved systematic violence, including mass executions, forced displacement, and sexual violence, particularly in areas like Srebrenica.
The genocide was part of a broader conflict involving Bosnian Serbs, Croats, and Muslims as they fought for control over Bosnia and Herzegovina. The international community has since recognized the events as genocide, leading to trials at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) to hold perpetrators accountable.
