Bonfim Church
The Bonfim Church, officially known as the Igreja do Bonfim, is a historic church located in Salvador, Brazil. Built in the 18th century, it is renowned for its stunning Baroque architecture and vibrant colors. The church is dedicated to Our Lord of Bonfim, a popular figure in Brazilian Catholicism, and attracts thousands of visitors each year.
One of the church's most famous traditions is the tying of ribbons on its gates, known as "fitas do Bonfim." These ribbons symbolize wishes and prayers, and visitors often tie them while making a request. The church is also the focal point of the annual Bonfim Festival, which celebrates its cultural and religious significance.
