Biotic Factors
Biotic factors are the living components of an ecosystem that influence the survival and reproduction of organisms. These include plants, animals, fungi, and microorganisms. For example, the presence of predators can affect the population of prey species, while plants provide food and habitat for various animals.
Interactions among biotic factors can be complex. Competition occurs when species vie for the same resources, such as food or space. Symbiosis is another interaction, where different species live closely together, benefiting one another, as seen in the relationship between pollinators and flowering plants.
