Biotic Components
Biotic components are the living parts of an ecosystem that interact with each other and their environment. These include organisms such as plants, animals, fungi, and microorganisms. Each biotic component plays a specific role, contributing to the overall health and balance of the ecosystem.
These living organisms can be categorized into producers, consumers, and decomposers. Producers, like plants, create energy through photosynthesis. Consumers, such as herbivores and carnivores, rely on other organisms for food. Decomposers, including fungi and bacteria, break down dead matter, returning nutrients to the soil and supporting new life.
