Bijagos Archipelago
The Bijagos Archipelago is a group of about 88 islands located off the coast of Guinea-Bissau in West Africa. Known for its rich biodiversity, the archipelago features unique ecosystems, including mangroves, wetlands, and sandy beaches. Many of the islands are uninhabited, providing a natural habitat for various species of birds and marine life.
The islands are home to the Bijagos people, an indigenous group with a distinct culture and traditions. They rely on fishing and agriculture for their livelihoods and practice sustainable methods to preserve their environment.
