Biertan Fortified Church
The Biertan Fortified Church is a historic Protestant church located in the village of Biertan, Romania. Built in the late 15th century, it is renowned for its impressive Gothic architecture and defensive features, including thick walls and towers. The church served as a central place of worship for the local Saxon community and played a significant role in the region's religious history.
Surrounded by a fortified wall, the church complex includes several buildings, such as a bell tower and a parsonage. In 1993, the Biertan Fortified Church was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognizing its cultural and historical importance in the Transylvanian region.
