Berenguela of Barcelona
Berenguela of Barcelona was a medieval princess born around 1180, the daughter of Alfonso II of Aragon and Sancha of Castile. She played a significant role in the political landscape of her time, particularly through her marriage to Alfonso IX of León, which aimed to strengthen ties between the kingdoms of Aragon and León.
After her husband's death, Berenguela became a key figure in the succession of the León throne. She was instrumental in the ascension of her son, Ferdinand III of Castile, who would later become a prominent king known for his conquests and unification efforts in Spain.
