Berengar II
Berengar II was a king of Italy who ruled from 950 to 961. He was a member of the Carolingian dynasty and became the last king of Italy before the rise of the Holy Roman Empire. His reign was marked by conflicts with local nobles and rival claimants to the throne.
In 961, Otto I, the Holy Roman Emperor, invaded Italy and defeated Berengar II. Following his defeat, Berengar was forced to surrender and was later exiled. His reign is significant as it marked the end of independent Italian kingship and the beginning of imperial influence in the region.
