BepiColombo
BepiColombo is a space mission designed to study the planet Mercury. Launched in October 2018, it is a collaboration between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). The mission consists of two spacecraft: the Mercury Planetary Orbiter and the Mio orbiter, which will work together to gather data about Mercury's surface, atmosphere, and magnetic field.
The spacecraft will take several years to reach Mercury, arriving in late 2025. BepiColombo aims to improve our understanding of the planet's formation and evolution, as well as its geological history. This mission is named after the Italian scientist Giovanni Battista (Bepi) Colombo, who contributed significantly to the study of Mercury.
