Bayard Rustin
Bayard Rustin was an influential civil rights leader and activist in the United States. Born on March 17, 1912, he played a key role in the Civil Rights Movement and was a close advisor to Martin Luther King Jr.. Rustin is best known for organizing the 1963 March on Washington, where Dr. King delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" speech.
Rustin was also a strong advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and was openly gay at a time when it was not widely accepted. His commitment to nonviolent protest and social justice made him a significant figure in American history, although he often worked behind the scenes.
