Battle of Zenta
The Battle of Zenta took place on September 11, 1697, during the Great Turkish War. It was fought between the forces of the Habsburg Monarchy, led by General Duke Ludwig of Baden, and the Ottoman Empire, commanded by Grand Vizier Kara Mustafa Pasha. The battle occurred near the town of Zenta in present-day Serbia and marked a significant victory for the Habsburgs.
This decisive battle resulted in a major defeat for the Ottomans, leading to the end of their dominance in Central Europe. The victory at Zenta allowed the Habsburgs to gain territory and strengthen their position, ultimately contributing to the signing of the Treaty of Karlowitz in 1699, which formalized the territorial changes in favor of the Habsburgs.
