Battle of Spean Bridge
The Battle of Spean Bridge took place on April 16, 1746, during the Jacobite Rising. It was a conflict between the forces of the Jacobites, who supported the claim of Charles Edward Stuart to the British throne, and the Hanoverian troops loyal to King George II. The battle occurred near the village of Spean Bridge in the Scottish Highlands.
The Jacobite forces, numbering around 1,000 men, faced a larger Hanoverian army led by Lord Loudoun. Despite their bravery, the Jacobites were ultimately defeated, which marked a significant setback in their efforts to restore the Stuart monarchy. This battle contributed to the decline of the Jacobite cause in Scotland.
