Battle of Sinhagad
The Battle of Sinhagad took place on March 4, 1670, near the fort of Sinhagad in western India. It was a significant conflict between the forces of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire, and the Mughal Empire. The battle was fought to reclaim the fort, which had been captured by the Mughals.
The Maratha forces, led by Tanaji Malusare, launched a daring night assault to retake Sinhagad. Despite facing a larger Mughal army, the Marathas displayed exceptional bravery and tactical skill. The battle ended with a decisive victory for the Marathas, solidifying their power in the region.
