Battle of Sherrifmuir
The Battle of Sherrifmuir took place on November 13, 1715, during the Jacobite Rising. It was fought between the forces loyal to the House of Stuart, led by the Earl of Mar, and the government troops commanded by the Duke of Argyll. The battle occurred near Dunblane in central Scotland and was part of the larger conflict over the British throne.
Although the battle ended inconclusively, it marked a significant moment in the struggle for Scottish independence. The Jacobites aimed to restore James Francis Edward Stuart, known as the Old Pretender, to the throne, but the outcome weakened their position in the rising.
