Battle of Preveza
The Battle of Preveza took place in 1538 between the naval forces of the Ottoman Empire and the Holy League, a coalition of Christian states. The battle was fought near the town of Preveza, located in modern-day Greece. The Ottoman fleet, commanded by Admiral Hayreddin Barbarossa, achieved a decisive victory, solidifying Ottoman naval dominance in the Mediterranean Sea.
Following the battle, the Ottoman Empire maintained control over key maritime routes, which allowed for increased trade and military movement. The defeat of the Holy League marked a significant setback for European powers attempting to counter Ottoman expansion in the region.
