Battle of Philippi
The Battle of Philippi was a significant conflict that took place in 42 BCE in the region of Philippi, located in modern-day Greece. It was fought between the forces of the Second Triumvirate, led by Mark Antony and Octavian, and the army of the assassins of Julius Caesar, namely Brutus and Cassius. This battle was part of the larger struggle for power following Caesar's assassination.
The battle occurred in two main engagements. In the first, Cassius was defeated, leading him to take his own life. The second engagement resulted in the defeat of Brutus and his forces. The outcome solidified the power of the Triumvirate and marked a crucial step toward the end of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire.
