Battle of Osaka
The Battle of Osaka refers to two significant conflicts that took place in the early 17th century in Japan, specifically in 1614 and 1615. These battles were fought between the forces of the Tokugawa shogunate and the loyalists of the Toyotomi clan, led by Toyotomi Hideyori. The Tokugawa aimed to consolidate their power and eliminate any threats to their rule.
The first battle occurred in 1614, leading to a siege of Osaka Castle. The decisive conflict came in 1615, known as the Summer Campaign, where the Tokugawa forces ultimately defeated the Toyotomi loyalists. This victory marked the end of the Sengoku period and solidified the Tokugawa shogunate's control over Japan.
